CLIENT: Aberdeen City Council

TEAM: LDA Design (While employed)

SERVICES:Concept & Planning Landscape Design

While working at LDA Design’s London office, Alex supported the Glasgow office in the development of the design for Union Terrace gardens including site planning, cgi & visualisation and the details of elements such as the walkways, water features & balustrades. The process included an intensive optioneering process to develop the final built solution completed by LDA Design.
Set amongst listed buildings, busy streets and mature trees, Union Terrace Gardens is one of the most centrally located city parks in Scotland. LDA Design is leading a large multi-disciplinary team to
transform the Victorian Gardens into a contemporary urban green space of regional and national significance. Core objectives defined though a lively participatory design process included: improving accessibility for all; creating new space for events and improving safety of the Gardens through lighting and usage. The restoration of Union Terrace Gardens is recognised as a catalyst for the wider regeneration of the city and integral to the delivery of another 22 projects within the Aberdeen City Centre Masterplan.
